# Avoiding Scams

{% hint style="info" %}
Nearly all scams in crypto can be avoided by **NEVER sharing your Private Key or Seed Phrase with anyone.** The only reason someone might ask you is to steal your money. Do not fall for social engineering scams.
{% endhint %}

## Impersonators

A very common method of scamming is impersonating official accounts. Scammers will pretend to be official employees, such as moderators, support, or even official channels. \

## Unauthorized Account Access

* Social engineering is one of the most prominent methods of scamming in Crypto. We strongly recommend **NEVER** sharing your screen while sensitive applications are open, or sending a screenshot that might contain sensitive information (such as Private Keys and Seed Phrases).
* Scammers often gain access by sophisticated social engineering methods. Make sure to **NEVER** share any information that is sensitive, or download unauthorized extensions.

**Protect your Pocket.**
